Fflam festival is cancelled

The Fflam Festival has been completely cancelled for 2007, it has been announced today (August 2).

The event was due to take place earlier in the summer (July 13-15) in Swansea, but was postponed due bad weather, making it impossible for organisers to set the site up in time.

However the festival, which was due to be headlined by Manic Street Preachers, Keane and Placebo, has now been called off completely.

"It is with great regret that we confirm the cancellation of the Fflam Festival for 2007," explained organisers in a statement. "After the initial postponement due to torrential weather conditions, we have made every possible effort to try and secure a new date for the festival this summer. Unfortunately, we cannot find a date that suits all parties and due to artist availability, we are not in a position to deliver the brilliant line-up of bands we always intended if we go ahead."

They added they were giving up on 2007, but would look to stage the festival next year.

"At this stage, we are left with no option but to cancel the festival for 2007 and put all our efforts into making it a huge success in 2008," they explained. "We would like to thank all the people in the local community who have stuck by us and supported us throughout the past couple of months. For those who bought tickets, full refunds will be available from point of purchase." The Cult reveal new album details

The Cult are set to release their first album since 2001 this fall.

The veteran rockers plan to release the follow-up to 'Beyond Good and Evil' on September 25 via Roadrunner's New Wilderness imprint.

The album, which is currently untitled, is being recorded in London with producer Youth, reports Billboard.com.

In other news, the Cult are set to tour with The Who throughout the UK and Europe beginning next month.

Frontman Ian Astbury provides vocals on 'Burn My Shadow', the first single from the upcoming UNKLE album, as previously reported.
